On September 20th Immigration authorities in Prince Edward Island conducted final draw for their Direct Permanent Residence Streams in the Business Impact Category.
This draw had a point threshold of 152 and eight invitations were issued. After this the controversial 100% Ownership and Partial Ownership streams will be closed. The status of Business Impact Category Streams is as follows:
- 100% Owner Stream and Partial Ownership Stream (PERMANENTLY CLOSED).
- The Work Permit Stream is open.
This development has happened after two investigations by the Federal Government made the allegation that some candidates exploited it to get Canadian PR. Moreover, they used the streams, having no intention, to set up a business in the province. It was a back door entry in Canada. Presently after this closure, the Work Permit stream is the only way in the PEI Immigration Business Category.
By using the Work Permit stream, candidates must enter the Island temporarily for establishing their business. After meeting the terms of an agreement they receive the invitation for applying seeking permanent residence. Moreover, in this draw, 116 candidates received the invitation for applying to the Labor Impact/Express Entry categories of the province.
